Customers can send money abroad online or through their mobile device, direct to a recipient’s bank account, mobile device, or for cash pick-up. Azimo offers low fees, is authorized by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and licensed by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) as a Money Services Business (MSB).

Azimo offers money transfer services online that give customers a convenient, fast, and secure way to make a currency transfer to family, to friends, or to a business either domestically or internationally. The Azimo system, which uses the same 128-bit encryption systems used by banks, will search the markets to find the most favorable exchange rates and, once the customer approves a rate, secures it for the customer’s transaction.

To get started, customers need an email address and access to the internet through a computer or a mobile device. Once the customer’s account is established, they can choose how they want to send their money, and how the money will be received by their recipient. They have several options for how the money will be received. Azimo customers can choose a cash pick-up, to have the money sent directly to a bank account, or can send money to the recipient’s mobile wallet. If sending money to the Philippines, home delivery is also an option.

Depending on how much money the customer is sending, documentation may be required. Azimo has a tiered system based on the amount being sent. The base tier, which is for amounts up to £899 in any 30-day rolling period, requires no documentation and only the basic required information to register an account (the sender’s email address and the recipient details).

Tier 1 is any transfer above £900 up to £4999.99, or €900 to €4999 during any 30-day period. Tier 1 money transfers require one of the following proofs of ID: a passport scan, a UK driver’s license (full, not provisional), or an EU member state ID card with photo.

Tier 2 is any transfer above £5,000 up to £19,999.99, or €5,000 to €19,999 during any 30-day period. Tier 2 money transfers require an ID and proof of address. Documents that satisfy this requirement include a residential utility bill, a bank statement, a credit card statement, a gas bill, a tenancy agreement or letter from the landlord, or an employment letter.

For top tier money transfers, which are transfers above £20,000 or €20,000 during a one-year period, an ID, proof of address, compliance form, and proof of funds is required for the transaction.

Transfers typically take one business day with Azimo’s fast online service though, depending on when the transfer is initiated, they can take up to three or more business days. Transfers sent on a Friday will generally arrive early the following week.
