Data Acquisition Manager Job Duties
In this role, you will have the challenge of working with onshore/offshore teams of data scientists, data researchers, quality assurance personnel working both locally and offshore on the collection, processing, QA and reporting of data collected from a multitude of online and offline sources in a multitude of formats.

  • Manage the Data Collection Team to ensure efficient and timely delivery of data projects, support of existing solutions, delivery of reporting requirements. Ensure clear roles and responsibilities within the team and ensure the team is appropriately resourced
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for all data collection activities and ensure consistent customer communication and satisfaction regarding services (for both internal and external customers)
  • Directly manage the day-to-day service and support matters and issues with a high level of response, resolution, and communication, directing the data team as necessary to deliver resolutions
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination with all customers, internal and external, in order to keep them informed of all achievements, changes and issues that are taking place with any of the data collected
  • Define, implement and enforce processes and procedures for the efficient, scalable and satisfactory data collection operations that adhere to customer SLAs and internal OLAs.
  • Continuously evaluate & build skill set of the team to ensure objectives and levels are met
  • Monitor data operations performance against goals and milestones to balance service and customer expectations
  • Provide regular status updates and escalate service challenges

  • University Degree Computer Science, Management of Information Systems or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in functional and/or technical data operations experience

  • Hands on experience and knowledge of data collection and integration:
    • Experience of working with multiple data collection methods

The ideal candidate

  • Have an excellent track-record in primary and secondary research including qualitative and quantitative methods;
  • Be articulate and precise, and able to deliver high quality research outputs;

  • Have project management experience;

Key responsibilities

  • Researching and reporting on the international payments industry. Also, presenting these reports and findings to stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Monitoring and analysing the international payments market more widely, reporting on trends, regulatory framework and policy to help inform decisions taken by the business unit.
  • Guiding clients through our research models and helping to structure new programmes in such a way to support successful delivery at scale.
  • Undertaking ad hoc research projects as required by the business unit.


Experience, skills & competencies

  • Degree with a significant research component

Research Analyst (London)

Our research division FXC Intelligence is looking for a research analyst to expand our custom research efforts and produce content related to the payments, FX, and financial service industry.

This role will have two primary functions: first, conducting desk research into trends and companies within the financial services space to populate our online data portal; second, helping produce FXC Intelligence’s weekly newsletter and other custom research reports. This role has significant room for growth and expansion as all content and research work is currently being split between other employees.

Data Quality Manager (London)

We are looking for a Data Quality Manager to report directly to our technology leaderships and manage the people, processes and technologies involved with integrating data feeds from a variety of sources into our data warehouse.

The Data Manager will oversea a small onshore/offshore team of talented data engineers that collects third-party FX data through third-party integrations. The business team will provide the DQM our data collection requirements.

The DQM will then create and manage execution of implementation schedules. He/she will work with the ETL developers who load the collected data into our systems. The right person will want to roll up his sleeves and design the data model and data flow changes and develop ETL scripts and stored SQL functions. He/she will be adept at communicating with everyone in the organization in clear, concise and audience-appropriate terms.

    • Be a subject matter expert on the international money transfer industry and its data.
    • Ensure that everyone is following appropriate change control, configuration management, and data management procedures

    Required skills and experience

    • BSc/BA in computer science or a relevant field or equivalent work experience
    • 5 years’ experience in data management
    • 2 – 3 years’ experience managing one or more teams of offshore resources
    • Proficient in SQL, Excel and desktop data analytics tools.
    • Strong analytical, problem solving, and relationship skills
    • Expertise in data architecture and modelling
    • Exceptional organizational skills and extreme attention to detail
    • Ability to meet critical deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Familiarity with modern database and information system technologies

Role description

You will be working on the Research Team and the broader business’s data pipeline. You will for instance be asked to source data and investigate a data sources such as a Websites, flat files, or APIs. You will learn as much as you can about business requirements and needs and then explore and profile the data using SQL, Excel, Python or whatever other tools fit the job. You will have responsibility for productionalizing datasets for modelling, visualization and analysis using an off the shelf enterprise ETL tool and, if necessary, Python and SQL. Don’t worry if you have never used an enterprise ETL tool. We can train you. We need someone who is bright, articulate, who understands how to transform data and who is super eager to learn and work with data. You will need to be able to communicate complex material in layman’s terms and educate people.

The person in this job has a lot of different long term career paths in our company since we are small and everything we do depends on data. This is a highly visible, central, and critical role. Every day, you will be interacting with and learning from excellent project managers, business analysts, data scientists, software developers and qa engineers in a friendly, collegial environment.


  • Collaborate with our Data Scientists, Product Owners, and Software Engineers to identify, collect and transform data for research and analysis including statistical modeling.
  • Identify and diagnose data inconsistencies and errors.

Necessary skills and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or equivalent quantitative field.
  • Python, SQL, noSQL and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience manipulating and joining data in multiple different formats (for example, csv, json, xml, text).
  • Experience integrating external APIs for data acquisition.
