  • Passengers can send money to loved ones and friends around the world while at the airport in Muscat
  • Remittance kiosks are available 24/7
  • The service was inaugurated right at the arrival terminal

Passengers at the new international airport in Muscat can now send remittances to loved ones abroad and this is made possible by Global Money Exchange. The company recently got word from the Oman Airport Authority that it can operate in the new airport terminal in Muscat and currently has five kiosks that offer the service.

The inauguration was held at the arrival area and was attended by OAMC’s Faisal Sulta al Mamari, the non-aeronautical concession senior manager and Bashar Salesh al Thaher, OAMC’s commercial advisor. Global Money Exchange executives were also in attendance.

According to Global Money Exchange representatives, passengers can make cross-border payments to any country around the world and the service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition to the kiosks, the Oman Airport Authority has also allowed the international money transfer and currency exchange company to integrate its services at airport counters.

Constant feedback regarding the availability of international money transfer services inside Muscat’s terminals has prompted airport management to open the location to Global Money Exchange, according to reports. Various associations have also been asking for such a development.

With over 2 million non-nationals living in Oman according to a Times of Oman report from March 2018, the service that Global Money Exchange is offering at the Muscat International Airport is a welcome development.

In 2017, 3.7 billion riyals was sent out of the country courtesy of expats in Oman. A large amount in remittances was also sent by expats the year before.
