  • Banking Circle – which offers payment solutions to companies in the business-to-business payments sector, optimises their systems, and offers functions such as multi-currency accounts – has added Mahir Zaimoglu to its senior management team to oversee a review of the company's monetisation strategies.
  • Zaimoglu has previously worked at major companies such as Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan, where he specialised in mergers and acquisitions in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
  • In a statement regarding Banking Circle, Zaimoglu said that he was “deeply impressed by what the team has already achieved and equally attracted to the future potential”.

A specialist payments company has announced a new senior hire.

Banking Circle, which is based in London, said that it had recruited Mahir Zaimoglu to join its top management team.

Zaimoglu will work on a number of tasks within the business, including a full review of the company’s monetisation strategies.

He has been recruited from Goldman Sachs, where he served as managing director and head of financial sponsors for mergers and acquisitions.

He held this role in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

His experience, however, reaches much further back than this.

He previously led JPMorgan’s Sponsor M&A business, again in the same region.

He has also spent time advising firms such as EQT.

Overall, he has more than two decades’ worth of experience and knowledge focusing on the sector.

Banking Circle helps B2B cross-border payments firms and business payment solution services with products such as multi-currency accounts and more.

Its current partners include names such as Safenetpay.

In a statement, the two co-founders and co-chief executive officers of Banking Circle said that they were very pleased to have made the key hire.

Laust Bertelsen and Anders la Cour said that the skills that Zaimoglu offers would be useful when it came to boosting international growth.

“We are delighted to have Mahir Zaimoglu join Banking Circle,” they said in a press note.

“He brings extensive experience and a highly valuable skillset to the business, which will be important in our continued global growth journey.”

Zaimoglu himself said that he was pleased to be joining a “truly unique” firm.

He said that the company already had a strong track record when it comes to changing the way that companies employ and build their financial infrastructures for the benefit of international payments.

“Banking Circle is a truly unique business, which is transforming financial infrastructure and cross border payments,” he said.

He said that while he was looking forward to the firm’s future, he was also proud of what it had achieved in the past.

“I am deeply impressed by what the team has already achieved and equally attracted to the future potential. I am very excited to join Banking Circle for the next phase of its exciting journey,” he explained.
