  • The new partnership will mean that customers based in Europe who use Thunes will be able to take payments from a series of popular online wallets in Asia, such as Alipay and GCash.
  •  “This partnership will allow merchants to engage with shoppers through their favourite digital payment tools, both online and in-store, and help speed up the digitalisation and globalisation of their business operation,” said a senior spokesperson for Ant Group, which owns Alipay+.

Thunes, a leading name in the online money transfer sector, has confirmed that it will work with Alipay+ to bring together merchants from Europe with customers in Asia.

The company said that it will work with the Asian firm, which is owned by Ant Group and offers various financial marketing and international money transfer options.

The new partnership will mean that customers based in Europe who use Thunes will be able to take payments from a series of popular online wallets in Asia.

These include Alipay in China and Touch'n Go and Boost from Malaysia, as well as GCash in the Philippines, the Rabbit LINE Pay service in Thailand and KakaoPay in South Korea.

“Thunes' partnership with Alipay+ creates a truly global shopping experience for buyers and represents another major step in our mission to make payments borderless and inclusive,” said Christophe Bourbier, the managing director at Thunes Collections.

“Mobile wallets are becoming the primary payment method across Asian consumers, and with international tourism demonstrating steady recovery, we expect to see significant demand for this solution from our 100,000 merchants,” he explained.

For Ant Group, meanwhile, the country manager for France, Kevin Liu, said: “Thunes is a strong partner for Alipay+ – the innovative solutions that enable merchants to reach users of major digital payment methods.

“This partnership will allow merchants to engage with shoppers through their favourite digital payment tools both online and in-store and help speed up the digitalisation and globalisation of their business operation.”
