WireBarley, a provider of cross-border payment solutions, has announced the arrival of its new Visa-powered card.

It has launched the WireBarley Global Card alongside the household name in the payments sphere.

The new card can be used on over 100 million merchant sites that currently take Visa cards.

It is also possible for the card to be linked to pre-loaded currency.

This can then be taken out without extra costs at card machines in various locations.

Customers living in Korea will be able to use their cards at online retailers and rental platforms such as Agoda, Airbnb, eBay, Amazon and AliExpress.

Marking a first for prepaid cards in Korea, holders of the WireBarley Global Card will have access to 'Visa Concierge’, a digital personal assistant service.

Patrick Storey, the country manager of Visa Korea, said that the firm had been working hard to set up the new service.

“Visa has been spearheading efforts to establish an innovative payment ecosystem by collaborating with various fintech firms in Korea,” he said.

“I hope WireBarley’s innovative services will further develop into convenient and trusted services enjoyed by worldwide users through its collaboration with Visa.”

For WireBarley Corp, the chief executive officer John Yoo said that the company is working on improved “borderless” financial service offers.

“WireBarley is developing more convenient and borderless financial service with over 50 partners around the world,” he explained.

“The partnership with Visa is significant for us, and it enables WireBarley’s innovative service to expand to the global payment market – travel and shopping.”
