Foreign investors are purchasing inexpensive Swedish vacation homes

The best deals are to be found in Kronoberg county, in the Småland region of southern Sweden. This is where estate agent Christer Stjernfeldt is active, who claims that prices have fallen by up to 30% in the past year.

Foreign buyers, in particular from Germany and the Netherlands, are now taking advantage of the bargain prices.

The influx of foreign buyers could affect safe money transfer methods used to purchase Swedish holiday homes, especially as foreign buyers may be more likely to use different money transfer methods than Swedish buyers.

According to a report by Svensk Fastighetsförmedling, a Swedish real estate agency, the number of foreign buyers of holiday homes in Sweden has increased by 12% since 2015.

The report found that most foreign buyers come from Finland, the UK, Norway and Germany and that the most popular areas for holiday homes are located in the country's south.

The report also revealed that the average price of a holiday home in Sweden is 28 % lower than in other countries, making it an attractive option for foreign buyers.

In addition, the report noted that the average length of stay for foreign buyers is longer than for Swedish buyers. 

Overall, the report concluded that foreign buyers are increasingly looking to Sweden as a viable option for purchasing holiday homes, with the combination of affordability and attractive locations proving appealing.

The growing trend of foreign buyers snapping up Swedish holiday homes is likely to continue, with more and more people looking to take advantage of the country's attractive property market.

The Swedish government has encouraged foreign investment in it the country’s holiday homes, introducing tax breaks and other incentives. They have also introduced a law that permitted non-residents to buy holiday homes in Sweden without undergoing a complicated purchasing process.
