- The new service will be known as the Currenxie Visa Business Card and will be offered in several markets, including Europe and the UK.
- “Today’s launch is an important milestone in achieving our vision of empowering businesses to access global commerce,” said a senior figure at Currenxie.
Currenxie, a provider of cross-border payment services in Hong Kong, has announced that it will be offering Visa cards to businesses as part of a push to handle global transactions more efficiently.
The company has confirmed that it will name its new product the Currenxie Visa Business Card.
The card is currently being offered to Currenxie customers based in the Hong Kong region.
This is likely to be expanded to a number of other markets in the coming months – such as Europe and the UK.
The move comes as the company settles into an overarching partnership that will unfold in the coming years.
The idea is that business-grade bank cards will be provided to firms that operate across borders.
It comes after Currenxie received US$10m in a Series A investment.
In a statement, the founder and chief executive officer of Currenxie said that the new arrangement reflected the “dynamic” nature of the firm’s clients.
“Our clients are dynamic and they deserve a card to match,” said Riccardo Capelvenere.
He went on to say that the company was glad to have had the opportunity to collaborate with the Visa Fast Track programme.
“We’re proud to have worked with Visa as part of their Fintech Fast Track Program to bring a new type of corporate card to Hong Kong.
“Today’s launch is an important milestone in achieving our vision of empowering businesses to access global commerce,” he said.
Visa's general manager for Hong Kong and Macau added that Visa is a world leader when it comes to digital payments.
Maaike Steinebach explained that the company was pleased to be pairing up with Currenxie.
“As the world’s leader in digital payments, Visa is delighted to partner with Currenxie to develop commercial card solutions,” she said.
She added that there were many reasons why the pairing was so useful.
“The ease of use, access to global networks and advanced-level security provided by Currenxie’s new Visa cards are a powerful combination.
“Our joint efforts can meet the evolving needs of businesses in dealing with cross-border payments and help optimise their operations.”
