After their split from PayPal in 2015, eBay finally announced a new integrated payment solution – and it is no other than Apple Pay. According to eBay representatives, eBay users will be seeing the payment option when checking out, a new development that allows consumers to stay on eBay’s website or app while paying for items they want to purchase.

While this is exciting news, the new feature is not yet in place, as testing will not start until this autumn and it will take a while before the payment option becomes available for regular purchases.

eBay says that the company will be working with Adyen to begin the transition and Apple Pay will only be fully integrated by 2021. Reports note that other payment options such as Samsung Pay and Google Pay will also be available on eBay too.

eBay’s Senior Vice President of Payments Steve Fisher told Engadget: “Apple Pay is one of the most ubiquitous forms of payments and provides users with an easy, fast and secure way to pay. Offering Apple Pay as a form of payment on eBay is the first step in providing more choice and flexibility in payment options to our tens of millions of buyers.”

As Apple Pay users celebrate this development, there are other Apple Pay services to be happy about. It is almost the first anniversary of Apple Pay’s partnership with remittance brand TransferWise.

In Apple’s bid to make international money transfers available to its users, sending money abroad is now much easier through Apple Pay. According to a Fortune report in 2017, users no longer have to key in their bank account details to send money through TransferWise.
