Western Union has been involved in international payments for decades, but that hasn't kept them from trying new things. They recently launched what they describe as the most comprehensive transfer app in the market - designed to handle all aspects of a consumer's money transfer needs.
Below we've disaggregated the app to show you who is competing with them and where for a mobile world. This version is for the U.S. market.
Whether or not Western Union's comprehensive approach, or the more targeted approach of some of its competitors will win remains an open question - and one we'll be sure to follow over the coming years.
Moving on Up
The number of companies involved in international trade rose during 2015 according to the recently released U.K. Annual Business Survey. Just over 326K businesses (excluding financial companies) engaged in international trade last year, up from approximately 311K in 2014.
No word yet on how, exactly, the Brexit vote may affect this trend but it appears there are plenty of customers for corporate-focused providers to target.
