- Fintech firm and leading credit card issuer will extend partnership to offer even more solutions for other digital platforms and startups
- Deal should make it easier for startups and merchants to access Visa products and streamline international payments
- Announcement comes just months after Wirecard deal with ReiseBank
Wirecard, the digital financial tech service provider, has just announced it is expanding its partnership with Visa to offer even more payment solutions for fintech firms. Through its deal with the credit card giant, Wirecard aims to develop new products and services to help support other financial startups and fintech platforms, in addition to e-commerce and expanded banking options.
According to Suzan Kereere, Visa Europe's Head of Merchant Services, the partnership allows both Wirecard and Visa to help drive growth in the cross-border payments sector.
"This is an exciting time for the global payments industry with new payment innovators accelerating the creation of new ways to pay and be paid. We fundamentally believe this is good for consumers and good for merchants. Together with Wirecard we have the opportunity to make it easier for merchants and startups to access Visa's capabilities, and support the next generation of payment services," Kareere said.
Officials at Wirecard are also optimistic about the potential for growth in the sector and look forward to working with Visa to spearhead these efforts.
"Our aim is to shape the international digital payment market with innovative value-added solutions, all through one platform," said Susanne Steidl, Wirecard's Chief Product Officer.
The deal with Visa is part of Wirecard's wider efforts to expand its digital payment solutions platform. Just a few months ago, the fintech firm announced a renewed collaboration with ReiseBank in the launch of the bankom mobile banking app for optimised money transfers and payments.
It is a brave new world for finance, and these type of innovations are sure to keep the disruptors and startups in the fintech sector on their toes.
