- Western Union team up with GraceKennedy Money Services
- Customers enjoy sending international money transfers with debit cards
Western Union outlets in Jamaica are touting new services aimed at improving the customer experience and making it easier than ever for users to send and receive funds.
Western Union, along with GraceKennedy Money Services, the company's agent in Jamaica and across the Caribbean, has announced that users can now send international money transfers using their debit cards, as well as an expansion of their cash to account service.
The cash to account service was first introduced in 2016 for recipients in the US, the United Kingdom, China, India and Japan. Since then, the service has been expanded to more than 50 countries.
Now, Western Union is urging customers in Jamaica to forgo the long lines at its brick-and-mortar outlets on the island by using alternative international payments options like the cash to account program.
By allowing customers to send funds using their National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB) debit cards, Western Union is hoping to make remittances faster, simpler and more convenient.
According to officials, both the cash to account and debit card payments service are already gaining traction with Western Union customers as part of a wider industry trend toward cashless payment options. The programs in Jamaica give users the benefit of greater control over their funds and makes it much easier and more convenient for recipients to get their money.
Additional benefits of the program include the safer transfer of large amounts of cash for things like tuition or mortgage payments, automatic posting of funds to the recipient's account without fees, and faster international transfers, with deposits posting to a recipient's account in about one business day in most countries.
Both the cash to account and debit card payment services are already available to Western Union customers in Jamaica.
