  • Touch ‘n Go Group, an organisation owned by the firm TNG Digital Sdn Bhd, said that it had enhanced its international money transfer capacity in Singapore through a new product and service set.
  • It has been able to do this thanks to a collaboration with the well-known payments brand Alipay.
  • “As borders reopen and international travel resumes, I expect our users to enjoy using the eWallet when we have more acceptance points in Singapore, in the exact same seamless way as how they would use the eWallet in Malaysia,” said a spokesperson for TNG Digital.

Touch ‘n Go Group, a provider of eWallet services, has announced a new push for its cross-border payments offer.

The company, which is owned by the firm TNG Digital Sdn Bhd, said that it had boosted its cross-border payments capacity and taken it to the key market of Singapore.

It has been able to do this thanks to a new connection with the major Chinese payments brand Alipay+.

This brand contains a number of digital payment services, all operated by Ant Group.

It comes after the Touch ‘n Go eWallet began to be accepted by ComfortDelGro taxis.

Responding to the latest developments, a senior figure at TNG Digital said that the move reflected a boost in terms of payment services in Singapore.

“This is the beginning of a further expansion of our payment services to Singapore,” said Alan Ni, chief executive officer at TNG Digital.

“ComfortDelGro is the operator of the largest taxi network in Singapore, operating about 9,000 taxis across the city and we view this as an excellent milestone to expand our payments proposition to Singapore and are pleased to have been able to bring our users this added convenience and use-case,” he explained.

“As borders reopen and international travel resumes, I expect our users to enjoy using the eWallet when we have more acceptance points in Singapore, in the exact same seamless way as how they would use the eWallet in Malaysia,” he said.

Cheng Guoming of the Alipay+ Global Payment Partnership team at Ant Group said that clients could look forward to enjoying improved experiences when paying for goods and services abroad.

“The latest collaboration with Alipay+ to enable and further expand its cross-border usage is yet another innovation to allow its users to travel with the eWallet and enjoy a hassle-free and seamless payment experience outside their home country,” he explained.
