Two major names in the money transfer services sector have revealed a new partnership designed to help them improve their payments offer in the UK and further afield.

Revolut will use Stripe’s payment infrastructure to enhance customer payments in Europe, as well as facilitate its expansion into Brazil and Mexico.

Customers in those locations will be able to make payments in conjunction with their local preferences.

Revolut will use what is known as the ‘Stripe Treasury’ tool.

This provides banking-as-a-service tools, such as application programming interfaces (APIs), which will allow users to put financial options on their platform.

In a statement, the vice president of business development at Revolut, David Tirado, eexplained how customers would benefit from the partnership.

“Revolut builds seamless solutions for its customers,” he said.

“That means access to quick and easy payments and our collaboration with Stripe facilitates that.

“We share a common vision and are excited to collaborate across multiple areas, from leveraging Stripe’s infrastructure to accelerate our global expansion, to exploring innovative new products for Revolut’s more than 18 million customers.”

Eileen O’Mara, Stripe's revenue and growth lead for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said that the two companies had a joint goal to boost financial services around the world.

“Revolut and Stripe share an ambition to upgrade financial services globally. We’re thrilled to be powering Revolut as it builds, scales, and helps people around the world get more from their money,” said O’Mara.
