MONEY TRANSFER COMPARISON SITE AWARDED BY DRAGON
Dragons Dens’ Peter Jones and celebrity photographer Rankin honour small businesses
An online money transfer comparison business has been awarded for their success in the national BT Business Essence of the Entrepreneur competition, judged by Dragons Den’s Peter Jones. Despite the difficult economic year, fxcompared.com is one of the 20 small companies that are all using technology to succeed.
fxcompared.com is the world’s first commercial service that compares cost-effective international money/foreign currency transfer solutions to a variety of user groups. It has been described as the ‘benchmark’ for money transfer comparison sites and provides corporates and consumers with a real-time, independent and impartial comparison of the best value services offered by Banks, Money Transfer Operators (MTOs) and Authorised Payment Institutions (FX Brokers) for transferring money abroad.
Founded by Emmanuel Addy and Huw Jenkins, the commercial service now has 200 strategic partners and rising, allowing the search result listings to constantly evolve and enabling corporates and consumers choice and security when sending money overseas. By enabling consumers to access its services through other web sites and applications including media and social networking sites, the company has been able to quickly reach out to thousands of consumers online, quadrupling visitor numbers in the past 12 months and driving business growth.
Emmanuel and Huw have now had the essence of their business captured in a stunning portrait by renowned celebrity photographer Rankin, and the image will be displayed in a public exhibition at the gallery@oxo on London’s South Bank from 28th January – 28th February 2010.
David Ellingham, Chairman of the Parent company of www.fxcompared.com said, "This award is recognition and confirmation of the efforts the team have made to date. As we continue to develop important relations with the financial sector, we are confident we are moving in the right direction in delivering technology solutions that will help solve dilemmas for consumers and corporates. By promoting competition and transparency and continuing to work with the financial sector, our customer focused website will ensure a better deal for those transferring money. By offering flexible products and competitive exchange rates, payment specialists that we partner with, play an essential role in ensuring that transfers are easy, affordable, secure and on time.”
Mick Hegarty, strategy director of BT Business said: “It’s an inspiration to see the great resolve of this country’s entrepreneurs in the face of tough times. Now, more than ever, businesses need the recognition and support that these awards are able to give them. Technology is helping entrepreneurs diversify, think differently about how they run their businesses and evolve the services they offer in a challenging economy. We have recognised some of the businesses that are at the forefront of these innovations.”
Head judge Peter Jones added: “The BT Business Essence of the Entrepreneur winners are bucking a trend, creating stand-out businesses, harnessing the developments of technology and thriving. I was massively impressed with the standard of entries, and the diversity of the entrepreneurs, and I congratulate the winners for being selected.”
